To sztuczne jezioro, istniejące od czasów średniowiecza, było świadkiem rozwoju miasta, powstawania instytucji państwowych i kolejnych etapów budowania wspólnoty europejskiej.W samym sercu Hagi, tuż przed monumentalnym kompleksem Binnenhof, rozciąga się Hofvijver.
Moja instalacja była jednym z elementów wydarzenia podkreślającego moment zmiany i nowe otwarcie w historii Unii. Pracowałam w przestrzeni nad wodą i wokół niej, wykorzystując charakter Hofvijver - otwartą perspektywę, widoczność z wielu stron oraz bezpośredni kontekst instytucji państwowych.
A lake of history and a symbolic mirror of Europe — a calm body of water that has reflected political, social and symbolic transformations for centuries. This artificial lake, dating back to the Middle Ages, has witnessed the city’s development, the emergence of state institutions and successive stages in the shaping of the European community. In the heart of The Hague, directly in front of the monumental Binnenhof complex, lies the Hofvijver.
My installation was part of an event that highlighted a moment of change and a new opening in the history of the European Union. I worked in the space above and around the water, using the characteristics of the Hofvijver - its openness, visibility from multiple viewpoints, and the direct presence of surrounding state institutions.
